POWER-CHILD e. V. applies for the CharityStar

Two weeks after the launch of CharityStar. com, the first projects have applied for the CharityStar. Two of them initiated by POWER-CHILD e. V. one is called “NO means NO!”; a theatre-prevention project meant to empower elementary school children, is asking for votes. The aim of this specially produced stage-play is to strengthen the children´s self-assertion in the hopes of preventing sexual assault or abuse; because it has been proven that, as a rule, more self-confident children are less likely to become victims. POWER-CHILD CAMPUS in South Africa has also applied for the CharityStar. The Power-Child Campus serves as a drop-in center for children who have been sexually assaulted. In addition, they offer valuable educational programs such as football and theatre, which are not only fun for the children, but at the same time, helps them to develop interpersonal skills, such as mutual respect and the ability to work in teams. RENO launches I:CO-collection system in all German branches

Clever shoe recycling with RENO and I:CO! Starting in August 2009 you can exchange your unwanted shoes in RENO branches all over Germany for a shopping coupon in the amount of one euro per pair. To do this, RENO has made the I:Counter machine available in all of their 500 branches, after being successful tested in Hamburg, Osnabruck, Karlsruhe and Munich.

What do you have to do? Simply take your used shoes to a RENO branch near you, throw them into our I:CO-collection machines, close the flap and take out the coupon.

With the help of our I:CO system and our partners, we will be able to prevent about 400,000 tons of old textiles and shoes from ending up in the domestic waste every year all over Germany where they cannot be recycled.

Two Tons of Worn Clothes and Shoes in Germany Every Day!

The I:CO concept is gaining ground! To date, two tones of worn-out clothes and shoes have been delivered to I:CO-partners in Germany and exchanged for shopping coupons. The amount of clothes and shoes collected is equal to the weight of 4 full-grown male polar bears.

You can also do something to help this growing mountain of old textiles and shoes get even higher and not allow them to disappear (unrecycled) in your domestic waste by turning them over to an I:CO-Partner and exchanging them for a shopping coupon. You not only receive a price reduction on your next purchase, you also help the environment at the same time.

Germany is of full "I:COs" 60,000 kilograms already delivered!

Our I:CO system ("I collect") has started successfully in Germany! For nearly two months customers have been exchanging used clothes and shoes for shopping coupons in the branches of MISTER MINIT, RENO, Stichweh and ADLER Modemarkt to a great success! In the first two months about 60,000 kilograms of old clothes and shoes have been collected. This is equal to approx. 150,000 pairs of shoes or 180,000 articles of clothes. Our I:CO-Partners are also quite satisfied. Mr. Örter, President of ADLER Modemarkt, comments: “There has been a virtual rush in our branches. This great success confirms the fact that sales increase and environmental sustainability complement one another very well. ”

Due to this great success, many more I:CO-collection points will follow in the course of the year. Become an I:CO as well! Find out where to find an I:CO-Partner near you in our branch-finder.

With about 1,200 participants from 25 nations, the trade show exceeded all expectations. And an international interest of more than 50 percent verified that the organization Cradle to Cradle international has been gaining ground. For three days, 100 experts got acquainted with the revolutionary Cradle-to-Cradle concept within the context of a top-notch convention. At the center of attention were trend-setting materials and production methods which allow for the use of raw materials in a continuous cycle.

nutec_01_250I:CO was also there. At the I:CO booth experts were answering questions of interested visitors. Stephan Wiegand, CEO of I:Collect AG, was very enthusiastic: “At Nutec we have the opportunity to establish new business contacts in various sectors.”

Power Child Campus

I:CO supports Power-Child Campus, a project of Martin Krug's Power-Child e.V. and its sponsor Veronica Ferres. The goal of Power-Child is to strengthen the family by providing its children and youths with a safe place, free of abuse.

One reason for placing Power-Child in the center of attention is that in 2010 the 19th World Cup takes place in South Africa. Entertainment aimed at activating social abilities and easing the removal of anxiety and mistrust will be arranged in a setting where it is easier for Power-Child members to lower their guards.
